Closed loop control of hydraulic equipment is a complex subject. Successful implementation of a closed loop control system requires a combination of disciplines, including dynamic modelling and analysis (control theory), electrical design, hydraulic design, software design, and the ability to site tune and commission. CMA has developed a range of tools over the years for quick and accurate modelling and analysis, and for rapid software development.
At any one time CMA has numerous closed loop control system projects underway, and this work represents one of our largest areas of business.
The crown of our control system business however, is the CMA FATController. FATC is a real time digital motion controller, specifically developed for controlling hydraulic equipment. Over 50 FATC based control systems have been successfully implemented since 2002, many of these in large industrial companies such as BlueScope Steel, Boyne Smelters, and Alcoa Alumium. The unparalleled software flexibility, I/O and processing power that FATC offers has allowed us to provide cost-effective motion control solutions from applications as diverse as high frequency test machines, to high-speed conveyors accurately moving hundreds of tonnes of steel coils.
